Power of Caring: Inspiring Story
Experience the power of caring came to fruition more than thirteen years ago. My ‘GRANNY’ was diagnosed with Colon Cancer. Before she returned home from the hospital, our relationship grew. I would call to check on her, discuss her health status with her doctors/nurses, and mentally prepared myself to help her live life to the fullest. Over the past six years, Granny had two mild strokes, she was in and out of hospitals, rehab centers, had dementia and kidney failure. On January 1, 2011, Granny passed away in the comfort of her own home two hours before her 84th birthday. While caring for Granny, I took care of the following:

Mr. Pratt and Ms. Caesar are a great inspirational senior couple. Mr. Pratt suffered from a stroke and Ms. Caesar cares for him. Ms. Caesar called Care About You because she received one of the personalized letters that we mailed. Ms. Caesar is working on her own business and needed help navigating on the computer. She also needed assistance with her telephone and furniture bills.
Care About You has helped Ms. Caesar with sending and opening emails, opening attachments, and saving documents. Care About You worked with Ms. Caesar's furniture provider and was able to have her bill paid off a month early. Additionally, Care About You contacted Ms. Caesar's telephone provider and got her on a better affordable plan. Since the stroke, Mr. Pratt talked very little. During the first couple of visits, Mr. Pratt said little to nothing; however, with Care About You's friendly visits and conversations, Mr. Pratt has opened up and begun talking more. Care About You is still working with Mr. Pratt and Ms. Caesar to live life to the fullest. In addition, a true friendship exists.

Mrs. V. Spiles is 81 years old, a widower who lives alone, and has some medical conditions. Mrs. Spiles was having problems with her medical insurance. Her insurance company was giving her problems with paying for some of her prescriptions. She did not know what to do or who to contact for assistance. My ‘Granny’ introduced Mrs. Spiles to Care About You. Since meeting and assisting Mrs. Spiles, she has another medical insurance company that pays for her prescriptions. We have contacted her cable company, completed the discount application, and submitted the form on her behalf. She now receives a monthly discount on her bill. We have started food shopping for her and she loves the deals she received from shopping at Walmart. Additionally, we have printed, completed, and submitted an application for Mrs. Spiles to get a copy of her birth certificate.
